Acts, bills, and joint resolutions, 1691-1991 (bulk 1721-1991).

This series consists of the original manuscripts of acts of the General Assembly (1691-1991), bill copies of those acts (1797...1908-1991), and joint resolutions (1868-1991). Acts are bills which have passed both houses of the General Assembly, been enrolled, ratified, signed by the Governor or passed over the Governor's veto or become law without his signature, and printed. Acts are permanent measures, having the force of law until repealed. A joint resolution has the force of law, but is a temporary measure, dying when its subject is completed, requiring the same treatment as a bill except that the title is not changed to act after passage.
